Chiang Dao City
Chiang Dao city a few years ago, had a bypass constructed allowing big traffic and trucks to go around the city center.
Although the schools, shops, banks, municipality buildings, police station and post-office are in the city center, a rumor was that the city itself would move on the bypass.
Meanwhile, for close to fifteen years, there has been a project to make a four lanes road in the Chiang Dao city center. Houses properties and shops were given financial compensation and the ones with land in the back of their properties could rebuild a dozen of meters back on each side.
Though disappearing slowly Chiang Dao has still a bit of the authentic style with its old wooden houses and shops, no pavement but an old rural style that made Chiang Dao Chiang Dao.
Most of the two lanes towns and villages have disappeared from Chiang Mai to Fang-Thaton except a couple of villages like Mae Ai and Thaton but these towns are further than Fang.
