Around Chiang Dao
One of the main town of the Golden Triangle
Chiang Dao has an history some call a legend.
Chiang Dao at once was a town where the people suffering from leprosy and all kinds of sicknesses were kept.
When the history gets worse is when they set Chiang Dao in fire.
Less legendary are the diverse trafficking that have direct repercussions on the economy of the Chiang Dao area
The people by dozens of families mixed but not only, that disappear after being extorted of their goods and assets, lives and families broken by a minority of unscrupulous criminals.
Accidents, sicknesses, suicides unexplained as kids and mothers brainwashed by dominators controling their efforts, work and resilience.
While kids get aggressed with their mothers and grand-mothers by the powerful or higher hierarchically protected by the obscure and occult as much as corrupted. As aggressors the empowered kids will be on the front with their brothers and sisters behind and the mother in the back allegedly protecting the husband(s).
Corruption allowing feelings of invulnerability or invincibility.
Apart from that Chiang Dao stays a wonderful place to visit and yes is much safer than other places in Thailand
We love this town, our families, the people and so much to discover in the jungles, in the national park, in the wildlife sanctuaries, in the hilltribes and with the local Thai people.. Just staying away from some people will save you lots of disappointments and probably worse.
Chiang Dao means the town of the stars, we see them a lot less than a couple of decades ago but the skies are still quite amazing.
Doi Luang is part of the end of the Himalayan and the third peak in Thailand, part of the Chiang Dao and Sri Lanna national parks. Close to the amazing Huay Nam Dang national park close to Pai and on the way to Mae Hong Son.
